Summer Walks (2)
Another summer walk! After our failed expedition to The House on the Hill a few nights ago (see post here), we decided to have another go. We actually looked on a map this time, rather than relying on some dodgy directions from next door. Last time we had gone too far up the lane, under the railway bridge, but we didn’t need to go as far. This walk was much easier than the last one.
It turns out The House on the Hill is actually a lot closer than we thought! The whole round trip was only 3km (good old Strava, logging it for me!) as opposed to our trip out the other night which was a good 5km round trip. I’m amazed Holly walked as far as she did. She has a habit of saying no almost every other time I’ve suggested going for a walk. It must be the snacks and the promise of adventure that keeps her going.
When we eventually reached The House on the Hill, it was a joyous moment. Not only had we finally reached it, there were alpacas! There were 7 in total. These guys were so friendly and this little black one allowed us to stroke him. In the adjacent field were some beautiful donkeys too. I thought Holly would love the animals, but she only had eyes for her marshmallow snack. Typical. I loved them though.
Then we had a wander back down the hill and through the cow field. We also passed some gorgeous houses on the walk.
It’s amazing to think these are so close to our house! We are so lucky in that in about 5-10 minutes we can be in beautiful countryside like this. AND Holly has said she wants to go on more exploration walks around where we live.
Thanks for reading! x
