3 Easy Kitchen Updates (that won’t break the bank!)

If you’re in need of an easy kitchen update, look no further! Here are 3 easy kitchen updates that you can do in next to no time and make a big impact!

Paint your cupboard doors. It’s a big(ish) job, but makes a massive difference! When we moved in to our house we had a magnolia/cream kitchen. It was alright. Just alright. I much preferred grey though, and seeing as we didn’t have the budget for a whole new kitchen, I painted the doors!

For a more in depth blog post about this, click here but as a quick overview, I cleaned the doors with sugar soap to clear off any old grease and grime that may have been lurking. I then primed the doors with ESP, which is an amazing primer that works on melamine/fake wood/shiny surfaces. I then used Farrow and Ball Estate Eggshell paint to paint the doors a much nicer colour, in this case Purbeck Stone. Super easy and makes such a difference!

Another quick and easy fix is to change your cupboard handles. We had some chrome chunky things, which weren’t ideal, so I bought some antique brass style ones from Ebay and quickly replaced them. Again, there’s another post here but it’s basically unscrewing the old handles and screwing in the new ones. It’s so easy!

Another idea is adding panelling to a plain surface, such as the side of an island unit. Our island is a cheap basic one, but since we’ve added the tongue and groove panelling it looks so much better! This is another simple and relatively cheap update, and makes such a difference. You can read more about how we did it here.

So there you go! If you need a quick and easy kitchen update that can be done on a budget, why not try one of these?
