Recipe – Quick and Easy Pizza Dough
This recipe for quick and easy pizza dough is a huge favourite in our house. It’s a great recipe to cook with kids. Holly loves making her own pizza and looks forward to Friday night pizza night (as do I, it’s minimal cooking and minimal mess!).
For the dough I used a stand mixer with dough hook attachment as it’s there on my worktop. You can make this by hand if you prefer.
Ingredients:
450g plain flour
7g sachet of dried yeast
1-1.5 cups of warm water
pinch of salt
glug of olive oil
Basically, add your flour, yeast and one cup of warm water to the mixer bowl. Add the olive oil and salt and mix on a slow speed until a dough starts coming together. If the mixture is too crumbly, add a little more water. The dough should come together in a lump. When this happens, turn the mixer onto medium (4 or 5 on my Smeg) and mix for 8 minutes. Meanwhile, grease a bowl with more olive oil. Add your kneaded dough into this bowl, cover with a clean tea towel and put somewhere warm for an hour to rise.
After about an hour the dough should have doubled in size and be springy to the touch.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and give it a couple of kneads. To make one large pizza, roll out the dough as it is, or divide into 2 or 4 then roll out for smaller pizzas. Put it onto some tin foil greased with olive oil then onto a baking sheet if you don’t have a pizza stone – I don’t know anyone who does. Allow to rest for around 10 minutes before adding your sauce and toppings, then it’s ready to go into a preheated oven! Cook for around 10-15 mins at 200 degrees C depending on the thickness of your dough and how well done you like your crusts!
We love making this pizza dough together and Holly loves decorating her own pizza. I simply give her bowls with her toppings in and let her go wild. If you make this recipe, let me know how it turns out!
