This summer we took a (very) short break to Robin Hoods Bay. It’s somewhere I’ve been before but didn’t really get a chance to explore. I thought it would be a nice place for us to go for a night away so I booked us into the Victoria Hotel. Mr R told me that when he booked for us to (many moons ago, pre-Holly) we stayed in the exact same hotel! I had no memory of this at all. We had a room which overlooked the main village and the sea – a gorgeous view to wake up to!
Unfortunately the weather wasn’t on our side while we were there. It was a little rainy so Holly made good use of her raincoat from Joules.
Robin Hoods Bay has some of the tiniest streets I’ve seen, and they are so pretty! The cottages are so close together. It was lovely to wander round and explore all these secret alleyways.
We wandered down the hill to the sea, but when we got there the tide was coming in so there wasn’t as much of the beach as we’d have liked. Still, we passed an hour or so collecting bits and pieces and strolling along the sea front.
We had to have an ice cream before we made Holly walk back up the hill, as it’s quite steep for little legs!
We ate at the hotel that night and the food was lovely. We also had breakfast there the next morning but the breakfast wasn’t served until 8.30am which meant we were quite late setting off on the next stage of our journey (up to Alnwick Castle of all places, a 2 and a half hour car journey away!).
We’ll definitely be back to explore Robin Hoods Bay some more. Hopefully on a warmer brighter day!
